Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zack Greinke exited Tuesday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies following just two innings of work after vanishing into the team's dugout tunnel.

The club later announced left oblique tightness caused the 32-year-old's early exit after he allowed one run on four hits.

Greinke drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second, and called for the trainer after he went out onto the field to start the third. After a conversation with the umpires, Greinke briefly went into the dugout, returned to throw a few practice pitches from the mound, then left the game for good.

He was replaced by Randall Delgado.

Greinke signed a six-year, $206.5-million contract with the Diamondbacks in the offseason and entered the game 10-3 with a 3.61 ERA and is 7-0 in his previous eight starts.
