Marlins' Adam Conley: Falls apart in fifth inning Tuesday
Conley (4-5) pitched 4.1 innings, allowing five runs on five hits while walking three and striking out nine in Tuesday's loss to the Tigers.
Analysis:
Eight of the first nine outs Conley recorded Tuesday came via strikeout. By the time the fifth inning had rolled around, the left-hander had allowed just two hits and struck out nine. Conley whiffed the first man in the bottom of the fifth before the wheels fell off. The 26-year-old wasn't able to notch another out before giving up five runs, capped by a Miguel Cabrera three-run homer, and once again left fantasy owners with a sour taste in their mouths. Conley's inconsistency this season can be mind-boggling at times, but he should be able to rebound in his next start Sunday when he draws the Braves, MLB's worst offense.
