Pirates' Gregory Polanco: Serving as designated hitter Tuesday

Polanco (leg) will serve as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Mariners, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Analysis:

Even though he struck out in both appearances, Polanco's ability to pinch hit Sunday and Monday helped ease fears regarding his left leg injury. Fortunately for the 24-year-old, the Pirates have another interleague series in an AL park (at Oakland) after the Mariners series concludes, so the team will have the luxury of DH'ing Polanco throughout the week if need be.
