The bottom finally caved in on Byung Ho Park, as the struggling Minnesota Twins slugger was optioned to Triple-A Rochester, the team announced Friday.

Park was signed by the Twins to a four-year, $12-million contract in the offseason after several stellar years playing in his homeland. While he started off strong, showing off his prodigious power with several long home runs, big-league pitching eventually caught up with him. June has been a particularly rough month for the 29-year-old, as he's slashed just .136/.224/.303 with three homers while seeing his playing time dwindle; he hasn't recorded a hit since June 18.

For the season, Park's hitting .191/.275/.409 with 12 home runs and nine doubles, while his 32.8 strikeout percentage is the third-highest in all of baseball.

In a corresponding move, third baseman/outfielder Miguel Sano was activated from the 15-day disabled list following the completion of his rehab stint.
