The odds seemed stacked against Jimenez, who had given up five runs in each of his last two appearances, but those games were against the powerful Blue Jays offense; the Padres are another story entirely. It's been a truly horrendous season for Jimenez -- by far his worst ever in the majors -- but this outing may buy him one more turn in the rotation, which fortunately would come against these same Padres on Tuesday. Manager Buck Showalter wasn't willing to either confirm or deny whether he has earned another start, but more news on the situation should arrive as the next turn draws closer.
