Astros' Doug Fister: Wins fourth straight start Monday
Fister (8-3) won his fourth straight start Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts over seven innings against the Angels.
Analysis:
Fister doesn't boast an impressive strikeout rate (5.69 K/9), but he leads all Astros starters in wins (eight), ERA (3.21), quality starts (11) and WAR (1.7). The veteran right-hander had to battle Scott Feldman and Mike Fiers for one of the Astros' back-end rotation spots in spring training, but he's been the team's best starter this season, out-performing reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel and fellow starters Lance McCullers and Collin McHugh. Fister lines up to toe the rubber again Sunday at Kansas City.
