Cubs' John Lackey: Extends quality start streak to eight against Cardinals

Lackey (7-3) gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts over six innings in Monday's loss to the Cardinals.

Analysis:

Lackey extended his streak of quality starts to eight despite the losing effort and now has 97 strikeouts in just 94 innings. He did give up two home runs, but he has allowed just nine all season, resulting in a fine 0.9 HR/9. After posting a 2.77 ERA last year, Lackey has picked up right where left off with a 2.78 ERA through 14 starts to open 2016.
