Tigers' Justin Upton: Starting to turn season around

Upton has raised his batting average from .214 to .234 in the last two weeks while doubling his homer total to six.

Analysis:

His overall numbers remain unremarkable, but here's what you need to know. Upton, who had been whiffing at a stunning 35.7 percent, has cut his strikeout rate to 24.2 since June 4. Couple that with an increase in walks and harder contact, and you have an outfielder who should be on your trade radar. But do it fast to get him at a reduced rate. Another week or so of line drives and continued discipline at the plate will wake up Upton's frustrated owners.
