Red Sox's David Ortiz: Rocks off 17th homer

Ortiz accounted for half of the Red Sox's hits and all their run production with a double and a solo homer in four at-bats Thursday during a loss to the Orioles.

Analysis:

While he's still been racking up plenty of hits to keep him in the race for the AL batting title, Ortiz hadn't homered in two full weeks dating back to June 2. He tends to hit 'em in streaks, so don't be surprised if this is the start of a power binge for the 40-year-old DH. Ortiz now also sits second in the majors with 57 RBI -- not too shabby for an old man.
