Greinke flips bat on fly out against former team

Maybe Zack Greinke should have stayed in Los Angeles. If anything, Dodger Stadium is probably a better fit than Chase Field for his warning-track power.

In his first start against his former team Monday, the Diamondbacks right-hander shook off jeers from the visiting Dodgers fans and unleashed a deep drive to right-center field during the second inning. Unfortunately for Greinke, who flipped his bat after connecting on the Mike Bolsinger offering, the spacious dimensions in his new ballpark reduced the big hit to a long fly out.

Perhaps Greinke was simply auditioning for the buzzed-about pitchers' home run derby, a concept that has gained traction in recent weeks after several pitchers, including Madison Bumgarner and Jake Arrieta, lobbied for entrance into the hitter's All-Star event.

The Diamondbacks ace won a 2013 Silver Slugger award with the Dodgers when he led all pitchers with a .328 batting average over 72 plate appearances.
