Nationals' Ryan Zimmerman: Placed on paternity leave

Zimmerman was placed on paternity leave Friday, Mark Zuckerman of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.

Analysis:

Zimmerman will go home to be with his family after his wife gave birth to their second child Thursday, and as a result he was officially placed on paternity leave Friday. Trea Turner was called up from Triple-A Syracuse to take his roster spot while he is away. The Nationals could play either Daniel Murphy or Clint Robinson at first base during the time Zimmerman is gone. Considering off days, the latest he could return would be Tuesday in Chicago.
