Two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum will make his Los Angeles Angels debut in somewhat familiar surroundings when the veteran right-hander returns to the Bay Area for the club's weekend series against the Oakland Athletics.

Lincecum, who's attempting to resume his decorated career after undergoing hip surgery last fall, will "definitely" pitch in Oakland this weekend, manager Mike Scioscia told Pedro Moura of the LA Times, and it will most likely come Saturday opposite rookie left-hander Sean Manaea.

The site of Lincecum's anticipated season debut is particularly intriguing given it will take place some 16 miles east of where he helped the San Francisco Giants win three championships in nine seasons.

Lincecum, 31, is coming off his third and final start for Triple-A Salt Lake, an outing in which he allowed just one hit over seven innings on Sunday.

Last month, Lincecum tossed 41 pitches for about 20 teams during a televised showcase in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he reportedly topped out at 92 mph and showed strong secondary stuff. Lincecum was also being pursued by the Giants, the only club he's ever played for, and whom he won back-to-back Cy Youngs with in 2008 and 2009. The Giants were said to only be interested in Lincecum as a reliever.

Lincecum will reportedly earn a pro-rated share this season of a $2.5 million contract, which includes bonuses totaling an additional $1.7 million.
