Yankees' Dustin Ackley: Torn labrum confirmed

Ackley has been diagnosed with a torn labrum, according to manager Joe Girardi, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.

Analysis:

Ackley now faces the possibility of surgery after what was initially called a dislocated right shoulder. Considering that Ackley throws with his right hand, surgery to repair a torn labrum could very well end up costing him the 2016 season. It's yet another tough loss for the Yankees, who just recently managed to climb out of the cellar in the AL East. Look for an official announcement from the team if surgery is ultimately determined to be the best option.
