Alex Wood injured triceps while batting against Cardinals

NEW YORK (AP) Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood injured his left triceps while batting against St. Louis on May 15, an injury that caused him to be scratched from Friday's start against the New York Mets.

''I swung at a low pitch and missed it. I felt it when I did it, but I didn't think too much of it,'' he said Friday. ''Sort of like a mini-hyperextension kind of thing. And it got a little sore as the game went, but I was fine to throw.''

The 25-year-old left-hander stayed in the game and pitched six innings without a decision. He also failed to get a decision last weekend at San Diego, leaving him 1-3 with a 4.03 ERA in nine starts.

Wood said he didn't want to aggravate the injury by pitching Friday. Los Angeles pushed him back to Monday at the Chicago Cubs.
