Watch: Bautista homers in 3rd straight with leadoff blast

Jose Bautista is doing just fine in the leadoff spot, thank you very much.

Bumped to the top of the Blue Jays' lineup Thursday for the first time in a half-decade in an effort to reinvigorate Toronto's scuffling offense, Bautista continued his strong work in the leadoff spot in Sunday's series finale at Target Field with a first-inning blast off Minnesota Twins right-hander Phil Hughes.

In his first 15 plate appearances since being moved into the No. 1 spot, the six-time All-Star is hitting .385/.467/1.077, going deep in each of his last three contests. The last time Bautista went deep in three straight road games came back on May 13-15, 2011, and the Twins were responsible for that, too.

As for the whole jump-starting-the-rest-of-the-lineup thing? Well, immediately after Bautista smacked his fifth career leadoff homer, reigning American League MVP Josh Donaldson took Hughes yard, as well, for his 11th home run of 2016.

Bautista was feeling it.
