Tigers' Justin Upton: Starting in center field for the first time
Upton will start in center field Thursday for the first time in his career.
Analysis:
Manager Brad Ausmus wanted to give Anthony Gose a day off Thursday, and the Tigers do not have another true center fielder currently on the roster, so it was Upton who ended up with the job for the day. Upton will hit sixth against Royals starter Ian Kennedy.
