Red Sox's David Ortiz: Starting at designated hitter Wednesday

Ortiz is back in the lineup Wednesday, batting fourth as the designated hitter against the A's, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

Analysis:

Ortiz got Tuesday off, but the 40-year-old has been arguably the team's best hitter this season. He's hitting for a .321/.402/.688 slash line with nine home runs and 29 RBI, and has even chipped in a stolen base. He replaces Josh Rutledge in the lineup while Travis Shaw slides over to third.
