Red Sox's David Price: Throws bullpen session Monday

Price tried out a mechanical adjustment during his bullpen session Monday, Mass Live reports. The left-hander, who has a 6.75 ERA after seven starts with a noticeable dip in fastball velocity, is working on bringing his arms up higher, along with a higher leg lift, in the delivery.

Analysis:

Over the weekend, Price's teammate Dustin Pedroia noticed while watching older video of the pitcher that he had a higher leg kick than seen this season. At the very least, it's a working theory as to why Price has struggled at the outset of 2016. Prior to Pedroia's discovery, neither the pitcher nor the coaches had an explanation. Price said the new leg kick felt more natural to him, noting a better rhythm. We'll have to see how it plays out during his next start Thursday against Houston.
