Red Sox's David Price: Working on mechanical fix

Price, through the assistance of teammate Dustin Pedroia, is working on a fix to his mechanics that could be part of the reason the left-hander is off to such a poor start this season, the Providence Journal reports.

Analysis:

Pedroia noticed Price's hands weren't in sync with his front leg, something that was part of the left-hander's delivery in the past. "I want my hands and my right knee to be connected by a string," Price said Sunday. "My hands have stayed right here, and that's not allowing me to get my full leg lift. It's been about a half of what I'm used to. It gives me no margin of error because I don't have that rhythm." The hope is that this mechanical flaw can also help uncover Price's missing velocity. He's been sitting at 92 mph with his fastball this season, about three miles per hour less than normal. Price will continue to tweak the delivery leading up to his next start Thursday against the Astros.
