Conley's hitless streak snapped at 11 1/3 innings

Adam Conley, the Marlins' precocious left-hander who fired 7 2/3 no-hit innings against the Milwaukee Brewers last time out, picked up right where he left off Thursday night in Miami.

Squaring off against an increasingly hot Arizona Diamondbacks lineup, Conley didn't allow a hit through the first 3 2/3 innings Thursday, extending his no-hit streak to 11 2/3 frames before Welington Castillo's two-out single in the bottom of the fourth snapped his magical stretch that began Friday at Miller Park.

The 25-year-old probably won't take credit for the streak, though. Earlier this week, Conley, a devout Christian, reflected on his masterful outing against the Brewers in a lengthy blog post and was entirely self-effacing about his near no-hitter.

I say this all to paint a picture for you. This truth in my heart can't allow me to make my life about no-hitters. I can't - with any integrity at all - say that I was responsible for what happened the other night. God has blessed me to have a platform on a grand stage. I understand it to be so grand that I had actually prayed in 2015 that I wouldn't get called up to the Big Leagues because I didn't want to be responsible for such a good gift from God.
