John Danks, who was designated for assignment by the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, clearly left an impression on his teammates during his 10-year tenure on the South Side.

On Wednesday, White Sox starter Carlos Rodon paid tribute to his departed teammate by writing Danks' No. 50 on the back of U.S. Cellular Field's mound.

"Johnny's my boy, and I figured he's watching maybe," Rodon said after his club's 5-2 loss.

Rodon clearly isn't the only member of the White Sox staff who's missing Danks, though, judging by ace Chris Sale's words about the 31-year-old.

"He was a big part of the chemistry we had going on," Sale told Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday. "He was a personality. He was a character."

For his part, Danks - who lost all four of his starts in 2016 and had a 7.25 ERA - called it "a blast" to have played with his former teammates, but understood why the move was made.

"The way my April went and the way the team is playing, I can't fault anybody with the decision they made," he told reporters. "It's a win-now league, and I wasn't helping the team win."
