Orioles' Chris Tillman: Earns third win vs. Yankees Tuesday

Tillman (3-1) beat the Yankees on Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits in seven innings with nine strikeouts and four walks.

Analysis:

Tillman seems to be rebounding nicely from his 2015 season, the worst of his career since permanently securing a rotation spot in 2012. Tillman has nine strikeouts in back-to-back starts, a feat he did not accomplish a single time last season. In his six starts this season, Tillman has a 9.3 K/9, much higher than his 6.8 K/9 for his career. The velocity on all four of his pitches is up a tick from last season, and his opponents' contact (75.1 percent for 2016 vs. 83.5 percent for career) and swinging-strike rates (10.9 percent for 2016 vs. 7.4 percent for career) are currently career bests.
