Giants' Jeff Samardzija: Throws eight strong innings in win over Reds

Samardzija (4-1) allowed just one run on three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over eight innings in a win Tuesday in Cincinnati.

Analysis:

The only big mistake Samardzija made was a solo home run allowed to Adam Duvall in the fifth inning. This was Samardzija's best start with the Giants (74 Game Score) and the third time in six starts Samardzija has gone at least 7.2 innings and allowed two runs or fewer. Samardzija has a 3.32 ERA with a sharp 35:12 K:BB as his Giants career is off to a fine start.
