It took 19 innings, but the Cleveland Indians defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 2-1 on Friday to set a franchise record with their 14th consecutive win.

This marked the longest game in Canada Day history, and the third time these two clubs have played at least 16 innings against each other. It also marked the second time in Blue Jays history that a game has gone longer than six hours, according to Sportsnet Stats.

After everything that happened, here's a look at the highlights from the Canada Day game that won't be soon forgotten:

  • Edwin Encarnacion got ejected in the second inning
  • John Gibbons also got ejected in the second inning
  • Jason Kipnis drove in a run in the third inning
  • Justin Smoak hit a solo home run in the sixth inning
  • Russell Martin got ejected in the 16th inning
  • Indians' Saturday starter Trevor Bauer came in and got the win
  • Both Cleveland and Toronto used up their bullpens
  • Ryan Goins pitched a scoreless 18th inning
  • Darwin Barney gave up one run in the 19th inning
  • First pitch was at 1:20 ET, and the game lasted 6 hours and 13 minutes

There wasn't any offense in this game after Justin Smoak ripped a solo homer in the sixth inning. The go-ahead run came on a home run off the bat of Carlos Santana in the 19th inning off Blue Jays second baseman Darwin Barney.

Santana's 17th home run of the season is the latest in a game by a Cleveland player since June 14, 1963, according to ESPN.
