It wasn't a happy Canada Day for one member of the organization.

The Toronto Blue Jays released former reliever Chad Jenkins on Friday, according to Baseball America's Matt Eddy.

Jenkins was selected by the Blue Jays in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft. This season he's appeared in 20 games at Triple-A Buffalo, where he compiled a 5.16 ERA.

In 46 big-league appearances spread out over the last four seasons, Jenkins pitched to a 3.31 ERA in 100 2/3 innings pitched.
