Report: Manchester United interested in bringing Ronaldo back to Old Trafford
Manchester United's makeover continues, and may involve the club dipping back into its past.
The club is interested in bringing Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, according to the Manchester Evening News.
M.E.N. Sport understands United are working on what could be a new club-record deal to bring Ronaldo back to Manchester six years after he joined Real Madrid for a world record £80m.
Ronaldo reportedly isn't pleased with Rafa Benitez's appointment as Real Madrid's new head coach. A frustrated Ronaldo was caught on video Wednesday during practice expressing his displeasure with Benitez, after which the coach said there's no rift between he and the star player.
Ronaldo had a decorated career in England before departing for Spain. He scored 118 goals and won multiple titles as a United member from 2003 through 2009.
Ronaldo scored 61 goals in 54 games in 2014-15, including a career-high 48 in league play.
United was interested in bringing Ronaldo back into the fold in 2013 under David Moyes, but it didn't happen, with Ronaldo signing a contract through 2018 with Real Madrid.
