Celta boss Berizzo: Orellana 'will no longer be a part of this team'

Fabian Orellana might as well pack his bags.

After the Chilean international displayed what Celta Vigo manager Eduardo Berizzo called an "unacceptable lack of respect" toward him, the Sky Blues gaffer said the winger's days at the Balaidos are over.

Orellana has not travelled with the squad for Wednesday's Copa del Rey quarter-final fist leg at Real Madrid after missing the last two matches for "technical" reasons. He has since trained on his own, and after Berizzo's statement Tuesday, appears to be done with his Galician spell.

"I decided to leave out Orellana because of an unacceptable lack of respect towards me," Berizzo said, according to ESPN FC's Adriana Garcia.

"My decision is firm and I told the club, who are in agreement. As long as I'm here, he will no longer be a part of this team."

Berizzo did not reveal what Orellana was guilty of, though AS reports that the player has been trying to force his way out of Vigo, with an unnamed Spanish squad understood to be interested in the 30-year-old La Roja international.

Since joining the club in 2013 from Granada after a season-long loan with the Galicians, Orellana has made 113 appearances. His best campaign was in 2015-16, when he paired seven goals with seven assists. Injuries this season have curtailed that form, with just seven features to show for his efforts.

That will have to do, because according to Berizzo, his performance against Sevilla on Dec. 11 will stand as his last in a Celta strip.

"One thing is discipline and another issue is disrespect," Berizzo said. "I have announced my decision and that's the end of it."

Whatever Orellana's motivations are, Berizzo doesn't appear to care.

"He has not apologised but it doesn't matter."
