Report: Liverpool sets £20M price tag for Sakho amid Sevilla approach

Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho could be offered an escape route to Sevilla in the January transfer window, but it'll come at a price.

The Reds will not entertain a loan deal for the defender, instead setting a £20-million price tag to be rid of him for good, reports Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol.

It's understood Sevilla has made an approach for Sakho, no doubt encouraged that he was available due to his jettisoning into the Under-23 side at Liverpool after disciplinary issues, but only a permanent agreement will be discussed.

This goes against the Reds' treatment of interest in Sakho earlier in the season, when a summer loan offer from Stoke City was approved but then turned down by the France international.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp banished Sakho from the club's pre-season tour of the United States after he nearly missed a plane for San Francisco, missed a training session, and was late for a team meal. He has since been left to rebuild his boss' trust away from the senior squad, something that has perturbed the former Paris Saint-Germain man.

"I accept my situation but I can't accept the lie. … The fans deserve to know the truth," he wrote on Snapchat back in September.

"Now it's three weeks since I am fit to play games. I finish all my rehabilitation work. They don't want me to play also with second team lol! Why, I don't know."

Sakho has since played in the Premier League 2 for the Under-23 squad six times, but hasn't appeared for the first team since the Merseyside derby with Everton on April 20, 2016.
