Chelsea's Pedro held summer talks with Barcelona

Pedro was prepared to pack his bags and return to Barcelona last summer after admitting he held talks with his former club over a possible move back to Catalonia.

The Chelsea forward conceded that he was unsure about continuing in England following an unsuccessful 2015-16 campaign when he struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.

Despite his £21-million transfer the summer before, Pedro was prepared to call time on his English experiment until he held talks with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

"I spoke to Bartomeu and it looked as though I'd return to Barcelona last summer, but I think the talks were given more importance than they really had," Pedro told RAC-1, as translated by Ed Maylon of The Mirror.

"It is difficult to return, even with everything you remember from your old club. If you asked me if I'd like to go back, my answer is obvious, because it is a great club where I have great teammates and a fan base that appreciates me.

"I've always said I'd like to retire at Barcelona but it is very difficult, almost impossible at this point."

Pedro - who found the back of the net 30 seconds into Chelsea's 4-0 win over Jose Mourinho's Manchester United side on Sunday - has seemingly been given a boost in confidence under new Blues manager Antonio Conte.

Pedro has managed one goal and three assists through eight Premier League appearances thus far.
