Ahead of Sunday's visit to Barcelona to face Espanyol, there are doubts over the fitness of Real Madrid's Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo after the attack tandem trained separately from the rest of the team.

Bale, who came off in the 67th minute of Wednesday's Champions League victory over Sporting, and Ronaldo, who played the entire 90 minutes, trained in the club's indoor facilities, according to the club's website Friday.

The Welshman came off for Lucas Vazquez with a hip concern against the Portuguese giant, and it appears his replacement Wednesday may start in his stead Sunday in Catalonia.

Should Ronaldo also miss out, it's likely either James Rodriguez or Marco Asensio will get a chance to make Zinedine Zidane's starting XI.

It would appear that on the heels of a busy summer during Portugal's Euro 2016 victory that Real is being cautious with Ronaldo's knee concern, especially in light of the club's recent dominance over Barcelona's other club.

Los Blancos have only suffered defeat to Espanyol in seven of the last 47 meetings, with Quique Sanchez Flores' lot last tasting victory in 2007, with only two draws during the 2012-13 campaign to show for a one-sided matchup.
