Ronaldo names self in star-studded All-Time best XI

Brazilian legend and twice World Cup-winning attacker-cum-rotund global traveler Ronaldo was asked to share his all-time starting XI, and to no surprise, many of the star-studded names he opted for shared the pitch with the Rio-born magician during his decorated 18-year professional career.

Ronaldo, 39, who last played for Corinthians, started at the back, naming Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon as his first-choice shot-stopper. In front of Buffon are two other Azzurri legends, Paolo Maldini and Ballon d'Or winner Fabio Cannavaro, while two of Ronaldo's countrymen, Roberto Carlos and Cafu, are out wide.

If the back-line is decorated, the midfield quartet is utterly unplayable. Argentine attack duo Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona are forced to drop deeper than usual to assume roles on the wing, bookending French talisman and current Real Madrid gaffer Zinedine Zidane and Italy's purveyor of poise Andrea Pirlo.

With little hesitation, Ronaldo selects Pele up top, and after a moment of deliberation, smiles, and mentions himself to complete a lethal strike duo with 189 caps, 139 goals, and five World Cups between them.
