Real Madrid is increasing efforts to keep Moussa Sissoko out of the Championship.

The Spanish giant is believed to be eager to complete a deal with Newcastle United to bring the French midfielder to the Santiago Bernabeu ahead of the upcoming La Liga season in a transfer believed to be worth £30 million, according to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph.

The deal, however, reportedly hinges on the completion of Paul Pogba's rumoured transfer from Juventus to Manchester United.

Newcastle is said to be waiting for an offer from Real once the Pogba deal is completed.

Yet, the reported price may fall short of Newcastle's valuation after the club placed a £35-million price tag on the 26-year-old.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez, who was fired as Real's gaffer last season, described the interest from his former club as "genuine."

Although his performances last season left Newcastle supporters frustrated during the club's failed bid to remain in the Premier League, Sissoko, who arrived at the club from Toulouse in 2013, boosted his worth with a series of impressive displays this summer at Euro 2016 with the French national team.
