Morata eager to return to Real Madrid duty

Alvaro Morata is ready to resume his Real Madrid career following two successful seasons at Juventus.

The 23-year-old rejoined the rest of his Los Blancos teammates on Thursday in Montreal ahead of their International Champions Cup exhibitions.

Madrid exercised its buyback clause to reacquire Morata from the Serie A champion in late June, and it's becoming clearer he will feature at the Santiago Bernabeu during the 2016-17 season.

Morata is eager to begin working with manager Zinedine Zidane, who served as Carlo Ancelotti's assistant when the player last suited up for the squad in the 2014 Champions League final.

"It's incredible to be here again. It is a dream come true and I can't wait to get started," he told Madrid's official website. "I can't wait for tomorrow to arrive so we can get to work.

"Zidane works hard and does a lot of physical work. I have had two great years at Juventus, I learned a lot, and I can only be thankful because without this experience I would not be here."

Madrid reportedly decided to reject all offers for Morata ahead of the upcoming campaign. Chelsea is among the parties interested in the Spain international, and apparently tabled a €60-million bid for his services. Arsenal and Manchester United were also suggested as potential destinations in a recent Marca report.

But barring any rapid developments, Morata's likely to participate in some - if not all - of Madrid's friendlies against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich over the next two weeks.
