Barcelona activates Denis Suarez buy-back clause

Silly season is in full swing on the continent with transfers galore, and on Monday, Barcelona announced that it has exercised the buy-back option on attacking midfielder Denis Suarez.

Suarez, 22, spent last season at Villarreal, scoring four goals in 33 appearances for the Yellow Submarine, and will now return to the Catalan giants that he initially joined in 2013 from Manchester City, Barcelona announced on its website.

The buy-back activation sees Suarez pen a four-year deal at the Camp Nou with an option for a fifth depending on the number of appearances made in the fourth season of his term with the defending La Liga champs.

"Suarez returns after spells at Sevilla and Villarreal. For Barca B he scored seven goals and recorded 11 assists in his 36 matches," a statement of Barca's website said.

"That brought him to the attention of the Andalusians and his spell there allowed the man from Galicia to develop as a player, also adding the Europa League title to his list of honours."

Barcelona announced that it has paid Villarreal €3,250,000 for the young talent and has slapped a €50 million valuation on the once-capped Spanish international.
