Malaga double swoop secures Jony, Keko
Andalusian top flight side Malaga dipped into the La Liga transfer pool twice this weekend, signing Jony from Sporting Gijon and Keko from Eibar.
Both players are Spanish-born 24-year-old wingers, and will each enlist with the south coast side on four-year deals, the club announced.
The duo were unveiled Saturday at the club's La Rosaleda stadium in front of 2,500 Los Boquerones supporters.
Keko, who had a year left on his contract with Basque minnows Eibar, sounds elated to get started with last season's eighth-placed finishers. "I want to play, I want to come here convinced that I'm not just going to be just another one, but that I have to earn my stripes day by day and I will need to show that," he said.
"I come to do just that through my work and whole attitude."
Jony, whose two-year deal at Sporting Gijon was slated to expire at month's end, appears as ardent as his new colleague. "All football players want to be ambitious, want to aspire to be at a high level," he said. "The confidence that Malaga have put in me is what's really thrilled for me."
