Barcelona technical director confirms Sandro to depart this summer

Young Barcelona attacker Sandro Ramirez will depart the Camp Nou in the summer transfer window, according to technical director Robert Fernandez.

A graduate of La Masia, Sandro is at the end of his contract and the club has chosen not to exercise an optional year by the May 1 deadline, and as such, the 20-year-old will be allowed to leave for free upon the opening of July's summer window.

"Sandro has already had offers to leave last summer," Fernandez said, according to Dermot Corrigan from ESPN FC. "We weighed it up at that time, in the situation we had when we could not sign anyone (due to the club's transfer ban), and he made an effort to stay. We appreciate that.

"There was a date, May 1, a limit to extend his contract for one year, but after what he did (agreeing to stay) we thought the fairest thing to do was to open the door."

The Spanish under-21 international made 24 appearances last season with the Blaugrana, scoring three goals, all against Villanovense in the Copa del Rey.
