Looking to lock down two of its younger marquee players, Marseille has extended the contracts of striker Michy Batshuayi and pacey full-back Benjamin Mendy.

The extensions sees Mendy's contract run until 2019, with star goal machine Batshuayi's deal prolonged until 2020, the club announced Wednesday.

Marseille did not disclose the financial details of the contract extensions.

Batshuayi, 22, has been one of Ligue 1's breakout stars this season, coupling 11 league goals with five assists complimented by three tallies in five Europa League appearances. The Belgian international's emergence has drawn the interest of several Premier League clubs, and the forward's services just became that much more costly with Wednesday's contract extension.

Since moving from Standard Liege to the Stade Velodrome in 2014, Batshuayi has 21 goals in all competitions for Marseille, and has stepped up this season following the summer departure of attacker Andre Ayew to Swansea City.

Mendy, 21, has been a standout at left-back for Michel's side this season, appearing in 16 league matches with a goal and an assist paired with six appearances in the Europa League. The Le Havre youth product joined Marseille in 2013, and has featured in 72 matches for Les Olympiens.

The French-born defender will have to wait to suit up in 2016, as a hamstring strain sustained during the club's Coupe de France Round of 32 victory over Caen will see the angular defender miss six weeks.
