Mathieu Valbuena is officially back in Ligue 1.

The diminutive attacking midfielder was presented at Olympique Lyonnais on Tuesday after signing a three-year contract with the club, effectively ending his time at Dynamo Moscow.

A transfer fee of €5 million was agreed upon.

Valbuena had been seeking a move away from Dinamo after UEFA banned the Russian club from European competition for breaking Financial Fair Play rules. The ruling came after Dinamo had reached the Round of 16 in last season's Europa League.

"I come here with great humility and with the ambition of winning trophies," said Valbuena at his introductory press conference, adding: "I always behaved professionally at (Olympique) Marseille. Today I have no regrets coming to Lyon."

Valbuena addressed his possibly controversial move, saying, "We know that there is a rivalry between Lyon and Marseille but it's still football. I lived great moments there and I was proud."

When Valbuena joined Dinamo from Marseille last August, it was regarded as a bizarre transfer, despite the fact the French club had missed out on European football in the prior season. He defended his decision, saying: "I thoroughly thought through my move to Dinamo as I'd never previously played outside France."

At the Stade de Gerland, the 30-year-old will take the pitch with a new shirt number.
