There is another star name adorning the vast expanses of the LA Galaxy, with the club announcing Tuesday the acquisition of Romain Alessandrini from Marseille, penning the French winger to a Designated Player contract.

Alessandrini joins the club after Marseille acquired another attacking option in Dimitri Payet, and joins Giovani Dos Santos as the DPs on the Galaxy roster after the club parted ways with Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard.

The 27-year-old joins Los Angeles with nearly a decade of experience under his belt in France, playing for teams like Stade Rennes, Clermont Foot, and Gueugnon. For Marseille, Alessandrini scored 11 goals and tallied nine assists.

"We are very excited to add a talented, attacking winger like Romain to our roster," Galaxy general manager Peter Vagenas said in a club-issued statement. "He is in the prime of his career and has spent time playing at a top division in Europe.

"Romain will play a valuable role in our team's success this season and we look forward to him joining the team ahead of the 2017 season."
