Eto'o says Marseille move up to his wife: 'She's the boss'

Well-travelled striker Samuel Eto'o addressed reports linking him with a move to goal-starved Marseille, though Cameroon's all-time leading scorer admitted the decision is not his own.

Happy wife, happy life for the 35-year-old currently plying his trade in Turkey's top flight with Antalyaspor, as Eto'o told French television program TeleFoot he's intrigued by the ambitions of new Olympique owner Frank McCourt.

"We'll see, I can't say 'no.' But I have to ask the question to my wife," Eto'o admitted, ceding the final word on all career-related decisions to his other half.

With just 17 goals scored in the league this season across 16 matches, tenth-placed Marseille has been desperate to replace the scoring vacated when Michy Batshuayi made a summer Premier League switch to Chelsea.

Bafetimbi Gomis leads Raul Garcia's lot in scoring with seven, three of which are from the spot, though the former Saint-Etienne striker didn't exactly endear himself to the notoriously fickle Marseille faithful with comments of support for his former Les Verts side.

While Gomis has since publicly addressed the issue - telling L'Equipe, "I have asked to meet the supporters' clubs to talk about this misunderstanding. I want to wash my dirty linen in the family. I think my words about the club where I first played have been badly interpreted" - the on-loan Swansea City striker is hardly a fan favourite.

"Marseille fans are demanding fans, but I need that to progress. If you don't like pressure, you don't come here. I've got quite a few goals still to score here," Gomis added.

Eto'o isn't exactly known as a one-club man. Among his ten previous top-flight tenures with the likes of Inter Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea, the four-time African Player of the Year has yet to spend more than four years with the same side. Now with his deal in Turkey set to expire in June 2018, a move to Marseille makes heaps of sense.

But even with interest in the move, Eto'o reiterated that his wife makes the decisions.

"She's the boss."
