Roma terminates Rudi Garcia's contract ahead of reported Marseille move
Roma officially severed ties with Rudi Garcia on Thursday ahead of the French manager's reported move to Marseille.
The Italian team announced that Garcia's contract, along with that of his coaching assistants, has been terminated by mutual consent.
Garcia, who was dismissed from his post as manager in January, is now expected to become Ligue 1 side Marseille's new coach and replace caretaker manager Franck Passi, according to Mohamed Bouhafsi of RMC Sport.
With his appointment as manager expected to be officially announced Friday, Garcia will reportedly be on the touchline in time for Sunday's match against Paris Saint-Germain.
French football journalist Christian Olivier of RTL reports that Garcia's deal will keep him at the Stade Velodrome through the 2017-18 campaign.
Roberto Mancini and Andre Villas-Boas were also candidates to take over the French side.
