The Premier League's XI best flows

Reuters

With another exhilarating Premier League season set to close Sunday, here's a look at 11 players who attempt to match their on-field talents with an array of fearlessly coiffed hair to earn the honour of the "XI best flows of the Premier League season."

Olivier Giroud (Arsenal)

Despite an underwhelming campaign by his standards that was marred by a goalless stretch of 15 Premier League matches, Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has been the poster boy for clean-cut stately footballers since joining the Gunners in 2012 from Montpellier.

Nathan Ake (Watford)

Just one of dozens of talented young Chelsea players on loan this season, Dutchman Nathan Ake combined marauding pace with a penchant for robust tackles while manning the left-back position for Watford this season, all the while sporting a do reminiscent of Oranje standout Ruud Gullit.

Andy Carroll (West Ham)

Hearkening back to the Norse people that paid the British Isles a visit in the Early Mediaeval period, West Ham striker Andy Carroll opted for a Viking-inspired braided look towards the tail end of the 2015-16 Premier League season. Kids, don't try this at home.

Marouane Fellaini (Manchester United)

Known as much for his ample afro as he is for his mercurial displays on the pitch, Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini's capacious coif has become the standard among the English top flight's abundantly maned members.

Bafetimbi Gomis (Swansea City)

The first player to score twice on his Les Bleus international debut since Zinedine Zidane, Swansea City Frenchman Bafetimbi Gomis' best footballing days may be in the rearview, though everyday is a good hair day for the 30-year-old Cote d'Azur born striker.

Graziano Pelle (Southampton)

Like Giroud, Southampton's Italian international striker Graziano Pelle blends terse, angular locks with goal-scoring acuity to great results. His 10 goals in the league for the Saints is good enough for joint-top with teammates Sadio Mane and Shane Long.

Sadio Mane (Southampton)

Few players have embraced the perils of male pattern baldness like Pelle's fellow Saint Sadio Mane, who has continued his goal-scoring exploits for the south coast side whilst employing a flare of blond hair. As the Senegalese international's forehead grows, so too does his profile as one of the Premier League's most dynamic attacking talents.

Joe Allen (Liverpool)

Nicknamed "The Welsh Xavi" by former Reds gaffer Brendan Rodgers, Welsh international Joe Allen now bears a striking resemblance to Italian hero Andrea Pirlo after adopting the bearded look popularised by the World Cup-winning Azzurri.

Marko Arnautovic (Stoke City)

While the "top-pony side shaved" look has its detractors, try telling Stoke City winger Marko Arnautovic that his hair is lousy, and the robust Austrian international may very well take exception with one of his trademark right-footed rockets.

Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle United)

Among the few positives during an underwhelming relegation campaign for Newcastle United would be centre-back Fabricio Coloccini's ever-present ringlets reminiscent of former Barcelona defender Carles Puyol. If only the Argentine veteran had the same proclivity as the Spanish World Cup winner for keeping the ball out of his own net.

Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham)

Besides being one of the Premier League's best defenders this season, Tottenham centre-back Toby Alderweireld has also been an early advocate of the jagged side part half-shave look that has swept the continent.
