Swansea City captain Ashley Williams admitted he didn't know who new club manager Francesco Guidolin was when he first heard the news of his appointment, and took to Google to find out more about him.

Guidolin was named the new manager of Swansea and will work alongside interim manager Alan Curtis for the rest of the 2015-16 campaign. Williams explained he and his teammates simply have to adapt as quickly as possible in order to compete this season.

"I know everything about him now as I Googled him on Sunday night," Williams told reporters. "I'm sure everybody did the same thing as I did and the boys did, we know his background but it doesn't really matter to us who comes in.

"We get told 'he's your manager,' you listen to what he has to say, give your all and do as best as you possibly can. We have to help him settle in as quick as possible. The chairman has made that move which is fine with us. We just get on with it and we're just happy we got the win for Curt and the other guys."

Williams hopes that regardless of who's in charge of the club, he and his teammates can fight and survive in the Premier League. The Swans currently sit 17th in the table - just one spot out of the relegation point - with only one point separating them from Newcastle United.

Guidolin was in the stands Tuesday when Swansea earned a much-needed three points against Watford and looks to carry on with similar results down the final stretch of the season.

"As players we knew he was watching and when you've got a new manager you want to impress him," Williams added. "But more than that it was about doing it for each other and the club. We understand the position we are in and it's not the time to be going through the motions or messing around. It's just about getting out of this position more than impressing the manager, we just need to pick up points.

"We're professionals and we just go out and do our job for the club that pays us, regardless of who is the manager."
