Report: Arsenal's Cazorla out at least 3 months with knee injury

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is reportedly slated to miss at least three months after suffering knee ligament damage during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Norwich City.

The club is still assessing the nature of the ailment, but manager Arsene Wenger is resigned to the long-term absence of his diminutive playmaker for the foreseeable future, according to the Guardian.

Sunday's trip to Carrow Road was nothing less than disastrous for the north London side, as centre-back Laurent Koscielny also left the match in the opening minutes with a hip injury and star attacker Alexis Sanchez suffered a hamstring injury and was forced to come off.

More resembling an infirmary than a football club, Cazorla's injury is the latest in a long line of layoffs to affect Arsenal, as he joins other central midfielders Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, and Tomas Rosicky on the treatment table.

Cazorla was injured during the second half of Sunday's Premier League fixture, though Wenger could to little to help the midfield maestro - two substitutions had been used to take Koscielny and Sanchez off, and a third gave Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain his first appearance in an Arsenal kit in over a month following a hamstring worry.

With Cazorla facing a long-term layoff, Arsenal is now without their two first-choice central midfielders for at least three months, as Francis Coquelin is also hampered by knee ligament damage.

Wenger will now likely opt for a central midfield tandem of Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey, as Arsenal supporters hold their collective breath in anticipation of the next injury.
