Leicester City to wait on Jamie Vardy's fitness
Premier League top goalscorer Jamie Vardy was unable to feature during England's friendlies in the international break, and is doubtful for Leicester City's trip to Newcastle United on Saturday.
The former non-league player has been in blistering form this term, and if he's fielded against the Magpies he'll be looking to equal former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of scoring in 10 consecutive Premier League matches.
Club manager Claudio Ranieri said he personally isn't thinking of who takes the penalties or who's chasing what record, but appreciates that those in blue are looking to help Vardy make history.
"Everybody wants to stop Jamie Vardy," he said at the pre-match conference. "That's normal, but maybe we'll pass the ball to other players."
The stage is set if the ex-Stocksbridge Park Steels forward gets on the scoresheet: he'll have the opportunity to surpass the record against Van Nistelrooy's old club a week later.
