Report: Daniel Sturridge returns to Liverpool training

It appears Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is nearing a return to the Reds' lineup following the Guardian's report that the England international returned to full training at Melwood on Tuesday.

The former Manchester City and Chelsea forward has been unable to play under Jurgen Klopp since his appointment at the start of October. His latest setback came just before the German's first match in charge, when he damaged his knee in a training collision with Jordon Ibe.

Saturday's return to domestic action comes against City, the club he spent six of his younger years at, but it is not yet known whether he will be fit enough to make the game at the Etihad Stadium.

Ibe and James Milner, meanwhile, look like they could be on course to feature in the match, with the latter also a former player for the Mancunian outfit.

Sturridge's work in training during the week is sure to be closely monitored, with an assessment on the 26-year-old's availability to be made as late as Saturday morning.
