Xavi: I'd choose to play for Manchester United or Liverpool if I moved to EPL

Barcelona legend Xavi never got the opportunity to play in the Premier League, but great rivals Manchester United and Liverpool would've been his preferred destinations if he made the move from Spain to England.

The 35-year-old is now plying his trade for Al Sadd, captaining the Qatari outfit in the twilight of his career, but was asked by Eurosport who he would've played for if England came calling.

"To be honest, the Premier League is a big attraction for any player. It's brilliant - the stadiums, the pitches, the fans, and how they live football over there - it's all incredible over there."

England has plenty of sides with money and lofty ambitions, but Xavi prefers a club with a storied past, just like Barcelona.

"There are many great sides like Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool. If I had to select one, it would have to be a club with a great history; maybe Manchester United or Liverpool."

He does have a preference between the two north-west outfits though.

"I know that there are clubs who have emerged quite recently, like Manchester City for example, but United is my favourite historically-speaking."

The midfielder has made a seamless transition in Southwest Asia, bagging two goals in his first four matches in the Qatar Stars League.
