Video: Counting Wayne Rooney's top 5 goals with England
Some of the goals were penalties, some were sensational, and just one in a World Cup. Wayne Rooney became England's all-time leading goal-scorer with a variety of strikes - no matter how many (or few) games he won for his country or which teams he scored against.
His 50 goals in 107 appearances is nothing to dismiss. He scored in fewer friendlies and in more competitive matches than Sir Bobby Charlton, the former record holder and World Cup winner.
So yes, Rooney has done good.
Here are the top five goals of his international career.
5. England 2 Poland 0 - October 2013
Rooney helped England qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with one of his well-placed headers.
4. England 6 Iceland 1 - June 2004
England left for Euro 2004 on a great note, hammering Iceland in Manchester. Rooney scored one of the few long-range goals of his England career, and it was dynamite.
3. England 6 Andorra 0 - June 2009
This is a Rooney special. Sure, he can score outrageous goals, but this one in a rout of Andorra was a pure poacher's finish. It was all about timing and positioning. Rooney broke free of the defence and smashed a perfect volley.
2. Belarus 1 England 3 - October 2008
Rooney scored twice in this World Cup qualifier, but the final goal was a work of beauty. In the final stages of the match, Rooney made a fine run into the box, acting as a dummy on a pass for Steven Gerrard before fooling a defender and lifting the ball into the net.
1. Russia 2 England 1 - October 2007
Despite a brilliant volley from Rooney, the Three Lions failed to beat Russia in a crucial Euro 2008 qualifier and eventually missed out on the tournament altogether. Rooney also conceded a controversial penalty in the match, undoing his good deed. But this goal will live in the memory.
