After collapse of De Gea deal, Manchester United upgrades IT systems

An improvement has been made at Old Trafford, potentially stemming from the surreal transfer saga of David De Gea.

Manchester United announced a partnership with IT services company HCL Technologies on Wednesday, two days after De Gea's move to Real Madrid fell through at the last minute because the necessary paperwork wasn't filed on time.

Both United and Real Madrid wasted no time pointing fingers after the transfer collapsed, as each club issued a 10-point statement defending its behaviour and detailing its version of what transpired in the moments leading up to the closure of the summer transfer window.

Regardless of where the truth lies, United's upgrade of its IT systems follows Real Madrid's claim that the Premier League club required eight hours to reply to the contracts that were sent its way.
