West Bromwich Albion has reportedly agreed to a fee of £6 million, plus £2 million in add-ons, with Manchester United for defender Jonny Evans.

The Northern Ireland international, who came through the youth system at United, has previously spent loan spells at Royal Antwerp in Belgium and Sunderland, but now looks to make a permanent move away, according to BBC Sport.

Evans has over 40 caps for his country and made 198 appearances during his spell in the north-west.

He played a key role in United's last title win in 2013, but has since seen first team chances limited under Alex Ferguson's successors in the Old Trafford hot seat, David Moyes, and current boss Louis van Gaal.

The 27-year-old will not sign in time for Saturday's away game at Stoke City. He is due to travel to the West Midlands on Saturday for his medical, and hopes to finalise the deal before the end of the weekend.

Evans offers some invaluable experience into a back line that has conceded six goals in its first three Premier League matches.
